Soquel Elementary has been educating local youth since the 1850’s. Soquel Elementary has occupied its current site on Porter Street since the 1890’s, and occupied the current building since 1921. It has been an integral part of Soquel Village for a century and a half, and holds a special place in the community as an historical landmark.

 

Soquel Elementary School serves 430 students, ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grade, with a variety of needs. Soquel Elementary School is a place where educators, parents, and students are actively involved in the learning and the growth of all members of the school community. Soquel is committed to high achievement for each student through a balanced, rigorous and integrated educational experience in partnership with the home and community.

 

Soquel Elementary School has diverse group of learners. With an average population make up of 45% socio-economic disadvantaged, 30% English Language Learners, and 8% special education. With a mobility rate of less than 10%, Soquel prides itself on serving children throughout their educational experience.

Teachers, administration and classified staff are dedicated to providing a rich and rigorous educational experience. We pride ourselves on implementing Readers and Writers Workshop with fidelity. We believe this approach allows our students the skills and knowledge to be 21stcentury learners and meet or exceed the common core standards. We are proud to have many teachers who have partnered with the Cotsen Foundation Art of Teaching. We are committed to ensuring our teaching staff is able to grow professionally, exploring their own unique gifts and talents.

 

Soquel Elementary offers all of our students the opportunity to enjoy different enrichment programs with the support from our parent community. We are very proud of our music and art programs and excited to offer all students the opportunity to experience the arts on a weekly basis. Our students love the hands on approach to the music, and take great pride in the art that they are creating. Soquel Elementary also offers computer classes, where the students are actively engaged in different learning programs, including but not limited to; Google Classroom,Typing Club, ABC Mouse.
