Dear Soquel Elementary families,

My name is Eric Witter, and I am proud to be your new principal! I’m a Santa Cruz resident and have had various teaching and principal roles in Santa Clara County over the last few decades. For many years I’ve wanted to serve in my community, and I’m very excited to be doing that at Soquel Elementary! I was drawn to our school for the location, and for many other attributes of Soquel El: our strong Soquel community; an excellent teaching staff; very effective instructional practices with readers workshop, writers workshop, and math inquiry; the enrichment program; and a value on social-emotional learning. I have clearly landed in a great place!

The home and school connection is such an important part of a student’s success. I’ll be sending out regular email updates, usually on Fridays. Teachers will communicate primarily by email and/or their newsletter, and the school website will be updated regularly. In an effort to save paper, you will find our Parent Handbook on our school webpage. 
 
Throughout the year I will be hosting a monthly “Coffee with the Principal”. This will be an informal check-in to discuss any questions or concerns that may be on your mind. I will have these at 8:15 on the first Friday of the Month (unless otherwise indicated). You are encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and meet other families.
